IDAI
Ritual Entryway System
Idai is a multifunctional entryway system designed to bring order and calm to everyday arrival and departure. Addressing common entryway challenges such as clutter, limited storage, and lack of seating, Idai combines a bench, hanging space, shoe storage, and integrated planters into a single, cohesive structure.
The system supports daily use for jackets, caps, bags, and accessories in dry conditions, functioning like a conventional entryway organizer. During wet weather, the same hanging elements subtly accommodate damp items by allowing excess water to drain safely toward the planter modules below, preventing mess without adding complexity to the user’s routine.
Rather than emphasizing water collection, Idai prioritizes flexibility and ease of use. It adapts seamlessly between dry and wet conditions while maintaining a clean, organized presence. By pairing functional storage with greenery and seating, the design encourages a brief pause at the threshold, transforming the entryway into a moment of transition rather than a zone of clutter.
More than storage furniture, Idai reframes the entryway as an experience supporting routine, adaptability, and a sense of calm at the boundary between inside and outside.
